From Homo Sentimentalis: A Guide in Verse to Modern Emotional Intimacy
all these *
ephemera in the spaces
of our lost life left *
emptily
elongate in etched laid
lines * of light’s
imperative
pasts. . .
they are still: posed
in a reposed endless
reflection (in
recognition * cognition or
bright disposition)
by vial book ribbon * brush
-ed raped non-oracular
ruins
in a palled past’s
per- * fumes of our ostia’s
flasked indigo into no future
goes
(save of pearled rainbow
-ed woes) in which
our * colourless
pains will
glow
to not *
be loved is a sequence
of cyclical * events taking
place
in a sorry sequined sphere
of my mental images
imagined
made. . . for a present
rapt ego’s ermine aged is mine
to gild or * glitter with this
litter
of literal reflections’
flecks
each more empty
than the blacked back surface
of this glass. . . in which
one ire sees
itself * in sufficiency * only
save
-oured so in such eyes’ iced
layers darkening round
your lilting lashes’
lit * lids or
lips
once
you were the con-
densation of this all: weight
of stars and wandering mines
movements of mine to
tilled terrestrial
tresses *
link
-ing up
the mimes * of a losing
world. . . what rack reaped
here since?
to render so a scratched
surface
’s felled face torn of all and
up * until the ultimate
unjaded jewels?
with
-in the holes
alcoholed hatched hells
no spirit will * our unwon
drunk
-enness drink: no coloured
sight spool
no bright net nor knot will
cool what
is now this eye’s empty
ever * darkening
pool
