Loving Robots in the Brass Paradise
1.
Robots make possible
castles without dust
2.
Pacing long hallways echoing
the music of chatelaine's
keys stroking metal skins,
robots enhance security
now that robbers know
about timed lighting effects
3.
My dog Achilles (who never heels) can
play forever, and so can robots
until the ceiling is camouflaged
by pastel rubber "Frisbee!"s
4.
If deprogrammed, they become human—
"Who are we to judge?"
5.
They can grow so tall
I no longer worry about
how to replace light bulbs
in the chandelier dangling
over the elongated turret
***
They can grow so tall
I can replace light bulbs in the chandelier
with wax candles—such a lovelier glow!
6.
They cannot survive
the deep end of an infinity pool
but their arms extend
for life-saving embraces
7.
The immortality of
that "smiley-face"...
8.
The immortality of
that painted teardrop
—negating an artist's didactic
observation from a past century:
the impossibility of painting
an object in the middle of a fall
9.
They are never didactic
10.
Physical imperfections
exist for a purpose
11.
Perhaps their imperfections
exist to make us feel
better about ourselves
12.
Robots suck out
the chill from necessary stones
Oh! These necessary stones...!
